Description: The technique of creating the 'feather' design on glass beads is an ancient one. In the 19th century, feather beads were produced by the Venetians in large quantities and traded all over Africa and Asia. These new beads are made using the same ancient technique. They come from Northeast India where they are made for the hill tribes of Arunachal Pradesh. In Arunachal, both old and new beads are still greatly valued as heirloom beads. Because they are hand-made, each bead is slightly different
